Congratulations to the Aiven team for raising $40 million in their Series B round led by Silicon Valley-based IVP with participation from existing investors Earlybird and Lifeline Ventures, as well as the Chairman of Nokia and the founder of Datadog. Draper Esprit has invested in Aiven alongside our partnership with Earlybird Capital Venture. This funding round brings Aiven’s total funding to date to $50m. As a result of this further investment Aiven moves to Draper Esprit Core Portfolio.
The Finland-based software company combines open source technologies with cloud infrastructure, so developers can build awesome applications without worrying about data infrastructure management. Aiven’s customer base totals around 500 companies including Atlassian, Comcast, OVO Energy and Toyota. They offer a managed service to popular open source platforms for companies like Apache Kafka and Cassandra, Elasticsearch, M3 and PostgreSQL in the public cloud. In 2019, Aiven added 200 new customers and opened offices in Berlin and Sydney.
Aiven intends to use their new funding to assist in their expansion across the US, triple their headcount, add new open source technologies like M3 and Flink, and introduce new enterprise grade features.
Draper Esprit is proud to continue funding alongside our Earlybird partnership and welcome IVP as a new investor in Aiven as they continue to grow.
