This morning, we are delighted to announce that Molten Ventures has made three new appointments to its Partnership Group. Christoph Hornung becomes Partner; Edel Coen is promoted to Principal and Nelly Markova joins as Principal. Together these demonstrate Molten’s commitment to build on its impressive growth.

Christoph Hornung

Christoph Hornung is promoted to Partner from his previous role as Investment Director, which he has held since joining the firm in 2020. Christoph has been instrumental in driving Molten’s investments in the DACH region, where its reputation, presence and value has grown dramatically.

Prior to Molten Ventures, Christoph was with Rocket Internet in Asia and Australia, where he helped build The Iconic and Lazada. Previously, Christoph worked as Investment Manager at Seven Ventures, where he focused on consumer and e-commerce investments. Christoph’s investment focus areas include Deeptech, Consumer Internet, Financial Services and Online Marketplaces and he acts on the Boards of Mostly AI, SimScale, Schüttflix, CoachHub and Agora.

Edel Coen is joining the Partnership Group as Principal. Edel joined Molten in 2018 as Associate and was promoted to lead Molten’s Dealflow function in 2020. There, she was instrumental in building a strong deal origination team that has transformed the firm’s investment cadence and has delivered an unrivalled support structure for the Partnership Group in finding, analysing and executing deals.

Edel started her career in Silicon Valley where she spent five years working with Irish enterprise software companies on all aspects of their US market entry strategy. Prior to Molten, she invested in early-stage sustainability and digital health ventures with BVP. Her investment focus areas are Enterprise, Deeptech, and Digital Health and she acts on the Boards of Gardin, Aktiia and Clue.

Nelly Markova joined Molten as Principal last month, having previously spent eight years focussing on growth equity investing in software and consumer internet businesses. She helped establish and grow Permira’s Growth Opportunities fund in Europe and was previously a Vice President at General Atlantic working on tech investments in Germany. Nelly’s investment focus areas include Vertical SAAS, e-commerce and marketing tech, Fintech and Online Marketplaces.

Commenting on the new appointments, Martin Davis, CEO, Molten Ventures, said:

“Our Partnership team is the key decision-making body for our investments, both new and follow-ons. As our business scales we will continue building this team to be as diverse and expert as possible. Christoph, Edel and Nelly all bring different skills and experience to the table and build on the strengths we already have in the team.

“It is with great expectations that I welcome Edel and Nelly into the Partnership Group and Christoph into the Partner role. I am confident they will exemplify the investment leadership we expect from senior Molten investors.”
